ELAINE NEWMAN

Elaine (Ellie) Newman is a highly qualified Physiotherapist with a true passion and expertise in aged care. Committed to identifying opportunities that enhance and enable others to support the delivery of person-centred care and achieve better outcomes for people living with dementia, Ellie was awarded the Australian Consumer Council’s Health Professional of the year award for her work in dementia care. 

As a clinical specialist in dementia and delirium, Ellie has successfully led the delivery of the first Australian health service to be recognised as working towards being Dementia Friendly. Much of her work has involved building workforce capacity and capability, delivering policy and practice change as well as developing health service wide strategic direction for dementia care. 

 Ellie balances her roles as Head of Physiotherapy and Dementia Lead for the Armadale Kalamunda Group in Perth, WA with being a State Director for Dementia Training Australia. With a passion for delivering what matters most, Ellie has spent the past 25 years working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver a better way to care for people living with dementia and delirium, both in the UK and Australia.
