Dementia Training Australia

Dementia Training Australia (DTA) is a consortium funded by the Australian Government to provide nationwide, high-quality education and training on the care of people living with dementia.

DTA combines the expertise of four universities, University of Wollongong, La Trobe University, Queensland’s University of Technology, University of Western Australia, Dementia Australia and associate partnership with University of Tasmania Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre, to deliver a coordinated national approach to dementia training for individuals and organisations. Central coordination is provided by consortium lead, the University of Wollongong.

Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre, University of Tasmania

The Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre is at the forefront of translational research and support for issues confronting people with dementia and their carers. Projects are being carried out across neuroscience, medicine, nursing, psychology and sociology, health, economics and policy. Research is based on three areas: cause, prevention and care.

The Wicking Centre is internationally recognised for its online teaching programs, including the Understanding Dementia and Preventing Dementia Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs), the highly regarded Equip Aged Care Learning Packages and the Dementia Respite Education and Mentoring Project (DREAM). Education for the health and aged care sector includes free online short courses, through to diploma, bachelor, and postgraduate award courses.
